SHARP'S BREWERY | ATLANTIC PALE.

keynvor.

Cornish brewery Sharp’s are known for DOOMBAR, but not for their Atlantic Pale Ale. So, whilst other booze brands talk about  ‘enjoying the moment’, We wanted to land what they're all about. Actually giving a fuck about where they brew it. So, knowing ocean sounds were peaking on Spotify playlists. We signed the Atlantic Ocean to Universal, called it KEYNVOR (Cornish for Ocean) made an EP and launched it with scannable autoplay codes in print, bottles and beer taps. Drinkable album anyone?

With each stream raising funds for a  beach cleaning charity. The Atlantic was funding it's own protection as well as making some well needed noise for the bev.

THE TUNE.

To cut through, we needed someone to collab with. Enter Universal, who offered up SEBASTIAN PLANO, a neo-classical cellist... That's right. Niche.
He loved the concept.  So we bundled him off to Cornwall and introduced him to pasties, and local field recordist TIM DAVIES.Together, we sampled the sea.
The resulting EP took a lot of back-and-forths. But I loved every second of it. To this day, it's still generating revenue for the ocean - often appearing on global 'chill playlists'.

If you play it now. even for 20 seconds. you're  cleaning the ocean. So go on. Give it a whirl.

YEAR TWO

The hype dyed down, and they wanted
another banger the following year.
So like every brand wanting to save the world,
we made a product… out of ocean plastic.

But in fairness, this one was a little different.
Vinyl, although great, can’t be made without destroying the planet. So surely we can press a record purely from ocean plastic? and job done. Turns out no.
Step forward...independent record pressor, and all round hero. Wesley Woofle from tangile formats. Because like every yes-man before him. He said...

YES.

OCEAN RECORD

And turns out it could be done.
By hand.
Very slowly.
Carefully selecting polymers that resemble PVC (what vinyls are made of). Then painstakingly micro weighing them..

But we / they did it.
The first record ever pressed from 100% ocean plastic. The records sold out on a bidding platform in minutes. and are now making even more money from re-sellers who I'm sure are donating their profits to charity too.

THE TUNE

We got a new artist, Nick Mulvey, to collaborate with KEYNOR. So aswell as the physical release, we also dropped the tune on streaming platforms to raise more money for our mate the ocean.

THE CROWN JOOLS

And me? Well, got it on Jools Holland mate. Dreams really can come true.
